Interacting with the map data

The SiteRecon map gives you various options to interact with it and the associated data. You can adjust the layers on the map to get the best possible view, and you can dynamically access your map's intricacies using this full-blown navigation feature.

1. Layer styling

Since the map has hundreds of layers, it may be challenging to distinguish the suitable layer. SiteRecon allows you to select and stylize a layer to make it stand out. Here's how to do it.
1. Select the layer you want to style from the layer panel by left-clicking it once. This action will open a styling pop-up, as illustrated in the image below, where you can customize the layer’s appearance.

2. In this pop-up, click on the dropdown arrow to expand the Layer styling menu. Adjust the Stroke Color or Fill Color as per your choice. The shade you will pick in the pop-up will reflect on the map at the same time.

3. Toggle between the Show vertices option to view the vertices of the layer parcel

3. Interacting with maps and layers

Real-time interaction between the maps and layers makes it easier for you to locate it right. It also helps you identify the IDs on the go.
If you select a layer ID from the layer panel, the corresponding area will get highlighted on the property map at the same time. Also, if you just hover the pointer (using either the mouse or the touchpad) over layer ID from the layer panel, it will get highlighted on the map screen too. Refer to the picture below.

The above pointer holds in a vice-versa scenario too, except for the hovering part – if you click on any of the layer IDs on the map screen, it will get highlighted in the layer panel.

4. Finding estimates for your clients

Select the IDs in a feature layer to find the total sum of their measurements. You can use this sum to calculate the estimates for your prospect.
If you charge your service based on area, multiply the sum by the service cost per square foot.
You can also estimate the time to complete a service in your area. Find the reciprocal of the expected production rate and multiply it by the total area. Or simply, divide the area for service by production rate.
Select the features for the ID column to add their measurements. To see the total measurements, select all the features from the ID column by clicking the layer checkbox.

5. Navigating map

You can navigate your property map using your touchpad or your mouse. You can also switch the views of your property by choosing the given options.

5.1. Navigating with your mouse

Hold the left click of your mouse and drag it on the map screen to move. Release the click once you have arranged the map well. Right-click on any surface will give you its coordinate value.

5.2. Navigating with the touchpad

Hold the left click of your laptop's touchpad and drag it on the map screen to move. Release the click once you have arranged the map well. Right-click on any surface will give you its coordinate value.

5.3. Street/Satellite view

You can choose the view–street or satellite–depending upon your need, in a single click.

Toggle between the views easily just by clicking any of the options highlighted in the yellow box above.

5.4. Zoom in/out

Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in or zoom out.
If you are not using a mouse, you can then place two fingers on the touchpad and slide vertically to do so. You can also perform the zooming action by pinching in and stretching out with two fingers on the touchpad.

5.5. Rotate

Press alt/option + shift together and then drag the screen clockwise or anti-clockwise to rotate the map. Click on the compass to realign north.

6. Attributes filter

Given that there are numerous feature layers listed on your property map, you can filter the attributes as per your requirement. This feature will help you view only the layers whose attributes you have selected using the filter option.
To filter an attribute, you first need to add the values you want to add for this property. Click on the icon marked below to do the same.
image.png
Once you click the icon, the below pop-up will appear for you to enter the desired values. Click on the Save button once you have selected the values. You can alternatively select the first checkbox (Turf) to select all the values together.
image.png
Once saved, you can then choose to click on the Filter button to access the screen below. You can view different layer(s) on the map screen by using the corresponding filter(s). Once done, click on the Apply button and your property map will get refreshed automatically.
