Editing Scout measurements

What to do when a measurement layer doesn't match the property on the ground.

First, check the common causes

Before editing, it helps to know why a layer might look off:

  • Imagery age — check the imagery capture date shown on your property; recent construction or landscape changes may postdate it
  • Tree canopy or shadows — dense cover can obscure turf edges, beds, or hardscape below
  • Boundary ambiguity — adjacent parcels or shared areas can blur where service scope begins and ends

Option 1: Edit it yourself — free

Once Scout's AI has measured a property, self-measurement editing is available at no cost. Adjust layer boundaries to match what you know about the site, and your area totals update accordingly. Edits don't consume credits or free properties.

Option 2: Request a complimentary remeasurement

If you believe a measurement is inaccurate due to an AI error rather than imagery limitations, contact support via chat or email (support@siterecon.ai) with the property address and the layer in question. Complimentary remeasurements are granted at SiteRecon's discretion, case by case.

Either way, give the measurement a thumbs down in Scout — that feedback directly helps Scout calibrate and improve accuracy over time.

Option 3: Remeasure at credit cost

If the property itself has changed — new construction, renovated areas, different service scope — or you want a different layer package, you can remeasure the property as a new measurement at standard credit cost (1 property measurement credit per acre, rounded up to the nearest acre).

What about Done-For-You takeoffs?

SiteRecon's expert estimators can handle measurements for complex properties — dense tree cover, intricate bed lines, large multi-parcel campuses — returning a reviewed, bid-ready takeoff. Done-For-You measurement services are available on Growth, Teams, and Partner plans only and aren't available to Scout users.

If complex properties are a regular part of your bidding, that's a good signal to talk with our team about a standard plan: online chat, phone, or sales@siterecon.ai.
