# How to comment and mention on notes?
## Keep everyone in the loop with context-rich conversations tied to the map.
Plato makes it easy to communicate directly on site-specific notes. Whether you're providing updates, asking a question, or sharing context, comments keep your conversations organized and connected to the work.
You can also use @mentions to notify teammates, crew members, or clients, so the right people see the right information, right when it matters.
#### **Why Use Comments on Notes?**
- Track progress or job status
- Clarify site instructions
- Loop in a teammate or client for review
- Leave follow-ups directly where the work is happening
#### **Steps to Add a Comment on a Note**
1. **Select the property** where the note is located
2. Browse the Notes Panel and **open the note** you want to comment on
3. Click the **+ Comment** button in the bottom right corner
4. Type your message, then click the **arrow icon** to post it
5. To tag someone, type **@** and choose their name from the list
They will be notified, and the comment will appear in the note's comment thread.
#### **Tag vs. Assign: What's the Difference?**
- **@Mention** is used to **bring someone’s attention** to a note
- **Assigning a note** gives someone **ownership** of that task
You can tag a manager for review and assign a crew member to take action- all within the same note.
